Who is Big AD

Adom Samuel Opoku, widely known as AD D.J, is a Ghanaian Disc Jockey, Music Artiste, and Creative Curator. He kicked off his professional career in 2014 when he emerged as the winner of the YFM Campus DJ Search competition. He has since had a propelling career. Over the years, he has been crowned “People’s Champ” by his audience

Early Life

AD DJ was born on the 23rd of May, 1994, in the Oti Region of Ghana. His parents moved to the capital city, Accra, where he had his elementary and basic education. He has always been involved with music, so it was no surprise when he decided to be a DJ. From his primary school days through to his secondary school, he was always where the music was. His DJ career started during his last few months in senior high school at St. Augustine’s College in Cape Coast. He was responsible for mixing and compiling audio sounds for various dance groups in his school during his time there.

Career

In 2014, he participated in the first edition of the YFM campus DJ competition, won, and as his reward, got a seat with the big DJs like Killer Fingers on Ghana’s leading urban music and entertainment radio station, YFM. As a campus DJ, AD DJ played for most top campus events. AD DJ has been with YFM to date, with the YCE show as his main slot for 8 years and currently on “Shouts-on-Y.”

Nightlife

Nightlife in Accra has had the best of AD DJ’s music-playing talent. From the onset, he’s always found himself in the biggest clubs, working either as a resident or a regular fixture. In 2014, he had a Friday residency at Bella Roma until it closed down in 2016. He moved on to the likes of Kristal, Plot 7, and in 2018, he joined Twist Nightclub as a resident DJ. He’s currently a Resident DJ at Front/Back Accra, Ghana’s top members-only club, which is a favorite hangout for big global superstars such as Kendrick Lamar and Chance The Rapper.
